Happy Hump Day! One of the best ways to build my audience was to leverage other people's platforms. It's how I got many of my opportunities and clients. I thought I would let Angel take over today's newsletter to give a little glimpse into PR (Public Relations) and why it's beneficial to add to your task list. Complete sidenote, check out my interview with Angel on Youtube here. Today, we are debunking a few PR myths and talking about the reality. Have you ever thought that only big brands and businesses need PR? Or that one press release brings instant attention and recognition? Or how about "it's ok to mess up, as long as you have a great PR team." If so, you are not alone. These myths have been going around forever, and honestly, it's what stops a lot of small business owners from using PR to their advantage and creating solid PR strategies. Here are the facts: ➡️ PR is for businesses and brands of all sizes. Yes, even solopreneurs! ➡️ PR is the long game. It is built on relationships, strategy, and consistency. ➡️ You don't need a huge budget, celebrities, or major influencers. You need a clear message and a solid plan. Sure, going viral is great, but after the 15 minutes of fame, what's next? That is why it is important to determine your PR goals, create a plan (tweak as you need to), make those connections, and build those relationships. Your brand deserves the spotlight. Start setting those goals and creating a plan. This Week’s Soundbite (Key Notes from her Podcast!): Podcasting Power Move: Keep your pitch about the value you can bring, don't make it about you and your achievements. PR Gold: Your email list, social media, podcast, and blog are media outlets. Treat them like the audience of a major outlet. Show up for them, talk to them, not at them, build connections and relationships with them. Stay connected with Angel on Instagram or learn more about her podcast here. |
