This year has been slow. And not in the "I have no clients" slow, but "man, these sales cycles are taking longer" slow. And I'll be real, I wasn't prepared for how slow it would be.
Throughout this year, I've been hearing from other service professionals how this year has been slower and how they had to pivot because of it. This has been coming from those who are newer AND those who have been in business 15+ years.
I share this because if you're in the same boat, you're not alone. This is a tough climate we're navigating, and we have to get crafty with the next steps.
I personally think this is the perfect time for repositioning. So that's what my advice is for today.
What can you do to reposition yourself? And I don't mean to give up or burn it down to start over. As tough as it may be to see right now, we are in a great spot to hammer down our focus on one key thing.
In this season, I've been leading with my technical writer experience because that's what people seem to be most interested in (even if they don't use this term).
Even though things appear to be slower, some businesses are booming right now.
The problem is that their growth wasn't monitored, so they tend to be overwhelmed and don't know they need YOU specifically.
So, how do you get in front of these individuals? Get visible. Hammer down your sales system, in particular, lead generation and follow-ups.
Pay attention to what people are saying online. Look for keywords. If people want to connect with you to network, find out why. See yourself through their lens.
Sometimes, the answer is right in front of us, but we just aren't asking ourselves the right questions to make the right strategy.
And, of course, be patient. As frustrating as it can be, we have to wait. Which is why it's super important to stay visible.
I'll sum up the action plan below, but I'd love to hear from you! Have things been slower for you as well? In what way?
P.S. I'm thinking about doing a Quarterly Planning session in late October for $97 for those of you who are interested in using a framework I use to make my plans and how to make it your own. If you're interested, just reply back and let me know!
